1st Anniversary

It's been one year since we started the knitting group with the library's blessings. This week a beautiful red cable scarf and a cute blue hat were finished by precious ladies who learned to knit exactly one year ago. It has been a joy watching the knitting skills improve this year, and a blessing for me to be in the company of wonderful people. Sorry no photos this time.

Two Cute Projects

Two more projects were done this summer. A great way to spend some time in the summer is to make cute accessories.

Andrea made a hat for her American Girl doll.

Anna made her third purse.

Good job!

Pumpkin Bread & a New Face

Mary Michelle brought us pumpkin break today that she made herself. It was delicious!

A hat for the winter was finished this week.

We also had a new visitor today who has been knitting since she was 8 years old and also spins her own yarn.

Summertime Knitting

It is still cool in this area for June. The warm weather is coming next week, but it doesn't keep us from knitting. A few knitters are already working on winter and Christmas projects. An American girl hat for a doll was finished this week, but I forgot to bring my camera. Picture will be posted by next week. Happy reading, knitting, and enjoying the summer!

Our Largest Group

Today 8 people of various ages came to knit and crochet. It was our largest group so far, and it was fun talking and learning the crafts from each other.

Kitten & Yarn

Sweet Little Kitten & Dishcloth by Sue

Yarn was donated by a friend, Earlene. I shared them with the library knitters. The yarn will come in handy in learning how to knit, crochet, or add more than one color to projects.

A lot of lace yarn was donated too.

Knitting Books in the Library

When I go on vacation, I often check out the local library. I have found many good knitting books that way. The book below is from the South Lake Tahoe library in the teen section. "Knitgrrl 2" by Shannon Okey is a good book for beginners and intermediates with cute patterns. The pictures are easy to understand and the instructions are easy to follow. The SLT library is in El Dorado County, the same county as Georgetown, so I was able to check out the book to share with the Georgetown Library knitters. :)

No Meeting This Week

Hi. Many of us are out of town for spring break so we will not meet at the library this week. Have a wonderful break and a Happy Easter.

Welcome

A brave soul showed up this week. Welcome to Rose, who has seen our ad for quite some time and came with a question. She bought balls of scrap rug pieces and decided it would be faster to knit it instead of braid it. She just had to learn to knit and learned quickly.

Also Barbara introduced herself to me today; she works with the Friends of the Library and is quite the sock knitter. The book shop in the library is looking really nice.

Knitting and Reading

This week many new projects were started: a seat cover, headband, bookmarker, and dishcloth. We share an interest in reading and find the library a great place to knit and check out books for all ages.

Hot Pick

We are in the middle of projects or just beginning a new one. This week's highlight is learning to use double point needles and working a SSK (slip slip knit).

Discovered that one of the library Hot Picks includes "Knit Two," the sequel to the "Friday Night Knitting Club" both by Kate Jacobs. I just checked it out and will return it one week.

Great Day for Knitting

It was very cold today, but five faithful knitters came together anyway. This is perfect weather for sitting inside, reading, and knitting. They discovered an unexpected surprise when they left though: snow!
